Done some research on Orient Star and they ticked all the boxes, especially the in house movement. The attention to detail is superb, you would pay a lot more for this watch if it was a Swiss make, with a third party movement. The sar coating on the sapphire glass, really does make it look like there’s no cover! In terms of quality it’s up there with my 5k seamaster Sedna gold. Will be buying more, and the guys at serious watches offer great service, they answered all my emails immediately, a few other watch shops should take note, I buy loads of watches, but if you take the piss, my money goes elsewhere! Great touch with the hand written note in the box and delivery to the uk was super fast ! Great looking and awesome quality
Superior luxury and quality for those who wear a watch as a tool and a piece of fine art.
Power reserve, open heart and moon phase all have different striation/stripped patterns (diameter size per strip) that play with the light differently, polished on their respective outlines.
Hour and minute hand are faceted, outer edges are polished, middles are lined. Indices lined/striped while being full polished with an amazing pattern that you'll have to see in person to believe. Even the markers on the power gauge and moon phase are facets and polished, magnificently blue btw.
The crown is ceramic. The bracelet is polished on the sides, brushed on the top while having the articulations that meet one another angled and polished. The outer links of the three link bracelet are brushed while having these slightly raised parts that are polished. The under case is "scooped" out and polished.
Some of these things you can plainly see, some you have to use a magnifier, others a 30X loupe gets the job done. These are just some things I can rattle off that I remember.
100m of water resistance, this is my new favorite watch by far. I waited a couple days to write this review to see if the honeymoon would wear off quickly. Nope. Sadly, compared to pieces worth twice this, off they go.
3' up running at -6.1s/d, on wrist full charge apron -4.4.
The SAR coating is by far the best I've ever seen, as has been said, "literally like no glass is there".
The movement, I'd run out of room to describe the patterns and attention to detail.
The only questionable part for me is the pins on the bracelet. Pros and cons, more difficult to fit but after that no worries of screws coming undone.
Thanks to Seriouswatches on shipping time, communication, packaging and offering a piece that cumulatively makes for easily the best experience I've had with purchasing a watch.

The Orient Star RE-AY0002S is a truly magnificent, beautiful watch that just oozes elegance and horological joy. It embraces the true Japanese style of design with the beating open heart at 9 o'clock, a power reserve indicator at 12 but the true beauty is at 6 o'clock: a real moonphase (not a day/night indicator) with a hand for the date. This is powered by Orient's in-house F7M63 caliber. This movement is also regulated to a tighter standard (+15/-5 seconds per day rather than the usual +25/-15) and has a power reserve of 50 hours.
The watch is a lovely watch to wear every day as it has all the basics you can wish for such as sapphire glass (with a SAR coating, which is much more transparent than normal AR coatings), solid end links and 100m water resistance but combines this with a dynamic design that will never grow old.
The RE-AY0002S is a great watch for anyone that loves watches and seeing them tick. A truly high end watch that is on the level of the (much more expensive) Swiss counterparts.

We're an authorised dealer of all of our brands, unless otherwise noted. In this day and age there are also many 'grey market dealers' that compromise. What are the main benefits of buying from an authorised dealer with regard to the warranty?
2 year warranty
We offer a 2 year warranty on all watches. This covers all mechanical malfunction arising from parts failure and/or assembly errors. Excluded are parts that by their nature may not last 2 years, like batteries and leather straps, damage/problems caused by improper use and wear and tear. We stand behind the brands that we sell and the quality that they offer.
Some of our brands also offer an international warranty, which will also apply.
Service and parts
In the unfortunate event of a problem with your watch, you simply need to send it to us (or take it to another dealer if the brand offers an international warranty). We have access to the official service centers, where only original parts are used and the watchmakers are qualified and experienced with your type of watch. Not every watch movement is the same, so it's best if it's handled by people who know what they are doing.
After your 2 years warranty has expired we are able to offer service in most cases.
